American Manufacturing: right here, right now
Automation in Local Manufacturing
April 13, 2018, 11am-1pm
This session will focus on automation in local manufacturing, asking: is our region up-to-speed on automation? We have a heritage of building and using automation systems, right here. And we're doing it, right now. Yet, we're told we should further automate or be left behind, and that our livelihood is in jeopardy one way or the other.
Who's telling us these things, and why?
Date: Friday, April 13, 2018
Location: OneGroup Center, 706 N Clinton St, Syracuse 13204.
Lunch is provided.

Tour the Covanta/OCCRF Jamesville facility
with SME on 4/25/18 at 4:30pm
The Onondaga County Resource Recovery Facility (OCRRF) is operated by Covanta of Onondaga LP. Its energy-from-waste operation provides reliable disposal of household trash while generating electricity, offering an environmental alternative to landfills, and promoting US energy independence.
- The facility processes 990 tons of municipal solid waste per day and produces enough energy to power about 30,000 households.
- You’ll see three independent mass burn combustors with waterwall boilers, each with a design capacity of 330 tons per day.
- Heat energy generated in the combustion process is used to produce electricity in a 39.5 megawatt turbine generator. This electricity supplies power to the facility and the excess is sold to a power reseller.
Closed-toed shoes appropriate for industrial environment required.
